29th of December 2011. A cold morning walk along East India Dock road. Banksy wrote a few days ago on the side of a derelict building ‘Sorry! The lifestyle you ordered is currently out of stock’. Serendipity! The next day I was walking along the river Thames and saw an advert for an art exhibition. I found myself staring at the word stupidity and couldn’t help thinking of Oscar Wilde’s ‘There is no sin except stupididy’. Later that day I was admiring the industrial grandeur of the abandoned power station in Battersea. In Hoxton. It isn’t a crime if one doesn’t get caught. Unless one wants to get caught. The year ends with Kurdish Dreams in Dalston and starts in Chalk Farm with the Circus. Farewell to the year that ends, serendipity, the circus, stupidity and stolen dreams. A new year, a new beginning. The open road, the start of the journey.
